Tribal clash in Parachinar, Pakistan: 35 dead, 151 injured in land dispute

Police officials in Kurram Agency, Pakistan, reported that at least 35 people have been killed and 151 injured in a land dispute between two tribes. The conflict, which began five days ago, remains unresolved despite government efforts to mediate.

According to Geo News Pakistan, the fighting erupted between the Bushera and Malikhil tribes in the Parachinar region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Both tribes have been using light and heavy weapons, and attempts by the government and local assemblies to end the violence have so far been unsuccessful.

The conflict started on 24 July when an armed individual opened fire on a delegation that had been sent to resolve the land dispute. The delegation was part of an effort to mediate and find a peaceful resolution.

Increased militant activity and tribal conflicts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa contribute to growing insecurity in the province.

The persistent violence further complicates efforts to establish peace and stability, making it crucial for authorities to implement effective measures to address both the immediate violence and the underlying issues fueling the unrest.
