RANDALL'S ISLAND, Manhattan (PIX11) – A woman was killed and two others were injured in a shooting in front of a Randall's Island migrant shelter early Monday morning, according to the NYPD.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. at Field 71. A 44-year-old woman was shot in the face and back, a 32-year-old man was shot in the throat and a 31-year-old woman was shot in the lower back, according to authorities.
It's not clear what led to the shooting and police don't have a description of the suspect.
The migrant shelters have a curfew from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. The city implemented the curfew at the start of 2024 in response to complaints from residents about violence and noise at all hours of the day.
