In Kapurthala, Punjab, a contaminated water supply led to an outbreak of diarrhoea resulting in four deaths and two cholera cases within five days. Local legislator Rana Gurjit Singh blamed municipal commissioner Anupam Kler for negligence. A high-level inquiry was demanded. Health Minister Balkar Singh cut water supply to affected areas, providing tankers instead.
