SULPHUR, La. (KLFY) -- A Texas man was charged with driving while intoxicated after a Lake Charles man was fatally struck when attempting to cross I-10 late Saturday, according to Louisiana State Police.
State police said the crash claimed the life of 31-year-old Daniel Courville, who was attempting to cross I-10 West around 9 p.m. after his vehicle had entered the median.
Juan Camacho, 45, of Texas, was driving west on I-10 in a 2004 GMC Sierra when the vehicle-pedestrian crash occurred, state police said.
Courville died at the scene of the crash, police said. Camacho was uninjured.
State police said troopers determined that Camacho was impaired and then arrested Camacho on the charge of first-offense driving while intoxicated. Police said a standard toxicology sample was collected from both Camacho and Courville for analysis..
