Pilot dead after helicopter crashed in upstate New York

Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fatal helicopter crash in northern New York. New York State Police say the helicopter crashed midday Saturday in West Carthage. The pilot was later declared dead at a local hospital. Police did not release the pilot’s name or additional information about the crash. An investigator with the National Transportation Safety Board was expected to arrive at the scene on Sunday.
