Mexico aiming for historic WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup title

"We are here to become World Champions, we have a very good team and this is our goal," said Mexico manager Vicente Jimenez, who didn't hide his team's ambition looking ahead to the WBSC Women's Baseball World Finals 2024 presented by CARNEXT, which starts in Thunder Bay on Sunday.

"I believe that our best quality is the team's spirit, the chemistry the girls created during the hard trek that took us here," Jimenez added.

Mexico, who are making their debut in the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup, placed third in the Group A tournament last year behind USA and Canada. Their lineup combined for a .254 batting average, while their pitchers allowed a 4.74 earned run average.

In 2024, Mexico participated in the Copa Yucatán in March, and Jimenez had a chance to scout his players in the National Championship in May. The National Team opened camp in early July.
