One dead, another injured after Licking County motorcycle crash
HEATH, Ohio (WCMH) -- One man is dead and another passenger is hospitalized after a fatal motorcycle crash between Newark and Buckeye Lake.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and passenger vehicle. The driver, Brian Winner, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Licking County Sheriff's Office.
According to police, a passenger on the motorcycle was airlifted to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both the passenger and Winner were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
Passengers of the other vehicle were treated by EMS on the scene, then released, police said. The crash took place around the 1800 block of Route 79, locally known as Hebron Road.
Deputies and the Licking County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the incident.
