State Police arrest repeat sex offender in Cobleskill

COBLESKILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Police arrested a Middleburgh man after receiving information about him sexually assaulting a child. Chris Wainwright, 61, was already a registered level-three sex offender before this arrest.

• Endangering the welfare of a child

After receiving the report about this incident, police say their investigation determined that Wainwright forcibly and inappropriately touched a child under the age of 16 in the winter of 2023 in Middleburgh. He was arrested in Cobleskill, arraigned in Schoharie County Centralized Arraignment Part Court, and placed in Schoharie County Correctional Facility.
