Yang Min-hyuk addresses the rumour that he is about to join Tottenham
Gangwon FC’s Yang Min-hyuk has hinted in a post-match interview that he could be joining Tottenham Hotspur, after his sides’ 4-2 win over Jeonbuk.
Yang Min-hyuk to Tottenham
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou refused to discuss Yang Min-hyuk directly when he was asked about rumours linking the Korean winger to Spurs.
He told Football.London: “Yeah, again I’m well aware of the quality of the K League. When I was at Celtic we were looking to bring over at least a couple of Korean players at the time and I think they’ve brought a couple over.
“Again they’ve made a fantastic impact in Europe, a lot of Korean players, none bigger and none better than our own Sonny. We’ll be looking far and wide for players and as you rightly said, it is difficult for me to discuss.”
Despite Postecoglou’s reluctance to confirm Tottenham’s interest, a long-term deal for the 18-year-old is believed to be agreed, with Yang expected to join Spurs from January 2025 (FabrizioRomano).
Yang hints at his future
When asked today about the potential move to Tottenham, Yang has not confirmed if a deal is in place, but he hinted that the rumours have some substance (@Sungmo_Lee).
He said: “That’s not official yet, it’s speculation at the moment. (but) it’s not a groundless story.”
His club’s CEO, Kim Byung-ji, is expected to speak about the possible transfer in the coming days.
SpursWeb opinion
Yang Min-hyuk looks certain to join Spurs. It is no surprise he has not confirmed if he is on the move, because he will want to be respectful to his current club.
But unless something goes wrong, Yang is going to be a Tottenham player next season.
