FanPost Friday: RAAAAAAAANDYYYYYY
The Seattle Mariners make a move, but are they done? Will it be enough? Let’s hit the polls and discuss!
Hello and welcome back to FanPost Friday. Well, last night’s breaking trade news sure gave me a new topic to discuss today, huh? After one of the most miserable, embarrassing week-long stretches of Mariners baseball in recent memory, suddenly a reason for hope and joy has emerged!
We’ve acquired All-Star OF @RandyArozarena

The right-handed slugger joins the squad from the Rays in exchange for minor leaguers RHP Brody Hopkins, OF Aidan Smith and a player to be named later.

The Mariners made the splashiest trade of the MLB Deadline thus far and brought home an All-Star for three prospects (assuming the PTBNL is also a minor leaguer, which seems likely). An excellent trade, in my non-expert opinion, and exactly the kind of trade the team needs to be making right now. But, most excitedly for me, Randy Arozarena is FUN. This team has NOT been fun to watch for most of this season. They are most uniquely not-fun first-place-adjacent Mariners team to ever exist in my 40 years on this dumb planet. By acquiring Randy, that has a good chance to change.
Perhaps you recall his exploits from the most recent World Baseball Classic while playing for Team Mexico?
I feel like after this tournament, we’re now all on a first name basis with Randy Arozarena. If someone says Randy in a complimentary baseball context, there’s only one man they could be talking about. Some mf named Randy. pic.twitter.com/0gH4myqcfn

The “some mf named Randy” meme started as a tweet when he helped defeat the Yankees in the wacky 2020 MLB playoffs, but I simply cannot find the original tweet or source of it. Thanks, El*n. Google is no help either so if you can find it, you win all the recs in the comments.
Anyways, before we hit the polls, our next Growler Guys x LL meetup is TOMORROW and now we can witness the Mariners debut of Randy Arozarena! Just like I drew it up!
Arozarena’s expected first game as a Mariner just happens to be our next watch partyhttps://t.co/Amg5nFxxbk https://t.co/c7OKQ9b2ST

Join us at Growler Guys around 4 PM on Saturday and let’s see if these bing bongs can right the ship or not!
Okay, time for polls!
Okay that’s it, let’s hope for some more watchable and fun Mariners baseball this weekend and maybe another trade or two! Go Mariners.
