Three children who died in a fire that gutted a home in East Ham, east London, have been named.

A blaze tore through the terraced family home on Napier Road on the morning of July 13.

Officials said at the time that one child was found dead inside the home while two other youngsters were taken to hospital – neither survived.

The three children were named today by police as Nakash Malik, 13, Aayat Malik, 11, and seven-year-old Muhammad Hanan Malik.

Their parents Khurram Malik and Naumana Gul Khan said of their children in a statement shared by the force: ‘Your lives were a blessing, your memory a treasure.

‘You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. May you rest in peace in God’s heaven.’

Firefighters brought the fire under control at 9.09am after the blaze had damaged half of the first floor and ground floor.

A fourth child and two adults were also taken to hospital after the blaze, the fire brigade said in an incident report.

Two remain in hospital while a third person has been discharged, the police said on July 16.

The cause of the fire is still unclear though there is no evidence to indicate suspicious circumstances.
