Justin Timberlake's Attorney Attempts to Have DWI Charges Dropped, Says Singer Was 'Not Intoxicated' but the Case Continues
Justin Timberlake will appear remotely in court next week to be arraigned for his June 2024 DWI arrest.
The 43-year-old pop star was not present in the Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on Friday (July 26) for a hearing. However, he was represented by his attorney Edward D. Burke Jr. who unsuccessfully attempted to have the charge dropped.

According to reporting by Deadline, Edward asked the judge to dismiss the case due to what were described as issues in the initial police report. He said that the “young” and “part-time” officer did not have a supervisor review the original complaint.
However, the judge decided that the case should continue as it was a paperwork issue that did not effect the facts of the case.
Justin, who is currently on tour in Europe, will participate in a video arraignment next Friday (August 2).
In a statement issued to reporters outside the courthouse, Edward said that singer was innocent of the charges.
“The most important thing we have to say today is obviously that Justin should not have been arrested for driving while intoxicated. The police made a number of very significant errors in this case, and you heard the District Attorney try to fix one of those errors just this morning upstairs in court,” he said, adding that “mistakes” can happen.
He continued, saying, “But the facts remain, he was not intoxicated. I’ll say it again: Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated and we’re confident that charge — that criminal charge — will be dismissed.”
Asked how Justin was doing, he said that the singer was “just fine” and “very busy.”
If you forgot, Justin was arrested for a suspected DWI on June 18. His lawyers have maintained his innocence from the beginning.
