Liverpool City Council is delighted to announce the launch of its new Workforce Academy within the Children’s and Young People’s Service.

Called ‘Care, Inspire, Thrive’, the Academy will upskill and train staff as part of the Council’s commitment to providing the best service possible for children and families in Liverpool.

The new Academy has been created as part of the Council’s transformation journey, so that practitioners and staff within Children’s Services, can be equipped with the tools, knowledge, and support that they need to make a real difference.

The ‘Care, Inspire and Thrive Academy’ will provide bespoke support and training for Social Workers in their first year after qualifying, to provide the skills and knowledge needed.

The Academy will also focus on progression pathways and ongoing development of knowledge and experience for other parts of the workforce, forming a community of learning for all staff across Children’s Services.

Training will include a mix of theoretical and practical experiences such as workshops, online courses, and training, all focusing on evidence-based practices and the latest research. The Academy is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion within Children and Young People’s Services.

Director of Children’s and Young People’s Service, Jenny Turnross:

“I am absolutely delighted to be launching our new Workforce Academy which provides exceptional training and development throughout a practitioner’s career right from being newly qualified.

“Our staff and students working in Children’s Services are not only knowledgeable and skilled, but are also deeply compassionate and committed to helping families. We want to continue to help them to grow providing a supportive and inclusive environment with comprehensive, hands-on education and development opportunities.

“If you are newly qualified, or an experienced practitioner, now is the right time to join Liverpool as our Workforce Academy will be a driving force in our journey for excellence. You can be part of our learning community that will continue to care, inspire and thrive.”
