The One Show pulled off air for WEEKS in major BBC schedule shake-up as hosts say goodbye to viewers
THE One Show has been pulled off air in a major schedule shake-up at the BBC.
Bosses have scrapped the beloved magazine from screens for weeks as they make way for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The show usually airs at 7pm each weekday and is presented by Alex Jones, Roman Kemp, Jermaine Jenas and Ronan Keating.
However, from today it will take a break.
US pop star Katy Perry was their final guest on the green sofa as she was cut short from telling a story as the end of the show neared.
Announcing the hiatus until mid-August, Roman told viewers: “Thanks so much to Katy Perry.
“Enjoy the Olympics, see you on the 12th of August.”
Alex added: “Bye, have a nice summer,” as the credits rolled.
It’s not the first time The One Show has suffered from sporting events this summer.
Earlier this month it was taken off air for an entire week as the BBC dedicated rolling coverage to Wimbledon 2024.
Usually schedulers bump The One Show to BBC Two to air special events, but they’ve taken the decision to axe the format for over two weeks.
The programme, which started nearly two decades ago, was also a casualty of schedule shake-ups due to coverage of Euro 2024.
