'Hell hath no fury': Swift fans unleash wrath over Vance's 'childless cat lady' quip
In 2022, now-Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) angrily railed against "childless cat ladies" and argued that Democrats who don't have biological children should not hold public office because they don't have a "stake" in the United States' future.
Vance mentioned Vice President Kamala Harris, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg specifically. But he failed to mention the fact that some major right-wing pundits — including author Ann Coulter and the late radio host Rush Limbaugh — haven't had biological children.
The "Hillbilly Elegy" author is now 2024 GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump's running mate, and videos of his "childless cat ladies" attacks have resurfaced — most notably, an interview with then-Fox News host Tucker Carlson.

Those attacks from two years ago, according to USA Today, are infuriating some Taylor Swift fans.
USA Today's Natalie Neysa Alund reports, "The video had more than 25 million views on X as of Wednesday, (July 24), and Vance's 'childless cat ladies' comments had sparked an uproar from Swiftie fans and beyond…. Swift, who endorsed now-President Joe Biden and Harris back in 2020, has not yet endorsed anyone for president in 2024."
Users of X, formerly Twitter, have had a lot to say about Vance's "childless cat ladies" attacks.
Lawfare's Anna Bower tweeted, "Hell hath no fury like a certain childless cat lady who has yet to endorse a presidential candidate."

Sami Viitamäki tweeted, "When it hits you that Taylor Swift is childless and has cats.... JD Vance really effed this one up. The armageddon is coming for him."
Another X user posted, "Hooooo-boiiii. Vance attacked childless women who love cats. Taylor Swift would probably like a word. Release the kraken (meowww)."
