Man facing intoxication manslaughter charge in fatal June crash
DEL VALLE, Texas (KXAN) — A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a fatal crash in Del Valle that occurred June 21.
According to Travis County court documents, 35-year-old Eric Ricardo Landeros Ibarra was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle, a second-degree felony. No attorney is listed online for him at this time.
Court documents said Landeros Ibarra drove on the wrong side of the road in a no-passing zone into the path of another vehicle, which killed the driver. Documents identified the driver as 19-year-old Eduardo Antonio Figueroa.
The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m. on Pearce Lane and Kellam Road, which is near State Highway 130 and State Highway 71.
At the scene, documents said first responders saw several open containers of beer inside Landeros Ibarra’s vehicle.
Landeros Ibarra was taken to the hospital in critical condition following the crash, where his blood was taken during the “normal course of his treatment for the motor vehicle crash,” documents said.
The blood was later released to investigators for analysis through a search warrant, and according to documents, Landeros Ibarra’s Blood Alcohol Content was at 0.198. The legal limit is 0.08. Medical records that were also obtained showed a “presumptive positive test for cocaine in his system.”
As of Wednesday afternoon, Landeros Ibarra was no longer booked in the Travis County jail, records showed.
