BBC Breakfast in huge schedule shake-up as flagship show is pulled off air early
BBC Breakfast is set to undergo a major shake-up as it sees its runtime being slashed by more than an hour.
The popular morning offering will be forced to come to a much earlier finish this Saturday morning owing to coverage of the Olympics.

As a result, the Beeb will be airing just two hours of Breakfast coverage this Saturday.
Whilst it will still kick off at 6am live from the MediaCityUK studio, hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt will wrap up at 8am to allow JJ Chalmers and Jeanette Kwakye to broadcast the first full day of highlights live from across the French capital.
It marks a rare move for BBC Breakfast which rarely ever sees any shift to its timeslot.
The same will happen yet again on both Sunday and Monday meaning less coverage than ever of the day’s news and current affairs.
In a further schedule shake-up, BBC One’s output of BBC Breakfast will be slashed to just 45 minutes throughout the rest of the week with the remaining coverage being shunted onto sister channel BBC Two.
The Olympics will see another BBC show, Morning Live, taken off the air across summer as it fills the morning, noon and night outut.
Apart from two daily news breaks, this Saturday, BBC One will exclusively feature Olympics coverage between 8am and 11:50pm.
The news of the show’s latest shake-ups come after it was revealed that presenter Naga Munchetty was the highest earning star of the bunch when the BBC’s annual salary report was revealed.
The journalist is named among the top 10 highest earning BBC stars of the past year after taking home a £345,000 – £349,999 salary.
It marks an impressive £10,000 increase on her earnings from last year but is £20,000 down from what she took home in 2022.
Naga’s pay is significantly higher than her BBC Breakfast co-host Charlie Stayt‘s which stood at £190,000 – £194,999.
However, he does not have the same amount of projects outside of the show as Naga.
Meanwhile, Jon Kay was revealed as the second highest earner on the team, with £225,000 – £229,999, and Sally Nugent – who co-hosts with Jon every Monday to Wednesday, received £195,000 – £199,999.
The figures were released as part of the BBC’s annual report which reveals the salaries of all the major stars across its various departments and genres.
Gary Lineker and Zoe Ball remained the top earners overall with the Match of the Day host having stayed within the same bracket of £1,350,000 – £1,354,999.
