Airports install more free water stations
Cyprus’ airports will soon feature a total of 12 free water refill stations, Hermes Airports Director of Marketing Maria Kouroupi said on Wednesday.
Speaking on CyBC’s morning radio, Kouroupi said the measure had been taken partly in response to the stalled debate over capping the price of bottled water. The proposition, which received pushback from businesses, is currently in limbo as parliament is in its annual summer recess.
Larnaca airport is soon to be outfitted with a total of eight water stations and Paphos with four, the director said.
Currently, Larnaca airport has two drinking fountains after security, one located at the ‘remote gates’ section, and one on the upper level.
This week two more are to be installed at gates 23 and 43 and they are to be signposted.
The director added that within three weeks another four stations will be installed, two in the arrivals lounge, and two in the check-in area.
Meanwhile, Paphos airport, which also already boasts two stations, is set to acquire two more, at gate number 5.
The water provided in the drinking fountains will be checked weekly and is filtered, the director said.
