3 arrested following fights at Old Home Days in Williamsville
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Three people were arrested following fights that reportedly broke out during the Old Home Days festival in Williamsville, the Amherst Police Department announced Tuesday.
Officials said just after 9:50 p.m. on July 17, numerous fights broke out between juveniles in different areas of Island Park. The fights were broken up before police intervened and no arrests were made.
The park was closed at 10 p.m. and the teenage crowd left the area, officials said.
Around 11:15 p.m. on July 17, a female punched a Niagara Falls man in the head several times, according to police. Officials said the male initially declined to file charges and the incident is under investigation. Their ages were not disclosed in the report.
Officials said just after 9:40 p.m. on July 19, several fights broke out among teenagers in different areas of Island Park. Amherst police broke up the fights and after leaving the island, teenagers continued to fight in areas nearby, according to police.
Officials said a fight broke out on South Cayuga Road where police broke up the fight and made several arrests:
- A 19-year-old male, of Cheektowaga, was arrested for disorderly conduct (for fighting in public). He was released with an appearance ticket.
- A 17-year-old male, of Buffalo, was arrested for disorderly conduct (for fighting in public). As he was being arrested, he punched an officer in the head and was also charged with obstructing governmental administration and second-degree harassment. He was released on an appearance ticket to family court.
- An 18-year-old male, of Buffalo, was arrested for disorderly conduct (for fighting in public). He was released with an appearance ticket.
The Amherst Police Department said no further information is available at this time.
