McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal isn’t going away yet

0

McDonald’s representatives have confirmed that the fast chain’s highly publicized $5 Meal Deal will be extended through August in Southern California.

The deal launched on June 25 after weeks of speculation and was expected to last four weeks. Bloomberg and Reuters reported on Monday that the deal will continue at most restaurants due to the business it’s generating.

But McDonald’s has taken to calling it either the $5 McChicken Deal or the $6 McDouble Deal because prices vary by location or franchisee.

The items are a sandwich, either a McDouble or a McChicken, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink.

Portions are smaller than other McDonald’s meals, which come with a medium drink and either medium or large fries but cost almost twice as much.

The price of the $5 or $6 meals are much closer to the Happy Meal, intended for children, which also runs close to $5 for Chicken McNuggets and around $6 for a hamburger.

Here are the differences.

The Meal Deals include both a sandwich and four McNuggets with sauce. The Happy Meal includes either McNuggets or a burger.

The McDouble is a bigger burger than the basic hamburger.

The order of small fries in the Meal Deals is bigger than the Happy Meal portion.

The Meal Deals include a soft drink. Happy Meals offer the choice of low-fat milk.

Happy Meals include apple slices and a toy, currently a Minion from “Despicable Me 4.”
