TURKEY CREEK, La. (KLFY) -- A Turkey Creek man is charged with multiple drug and weapons offenses after several marijuana plants were discovered on his property, authorities said.

Kent Chaddrick, 61, of Turkey Creek was arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office on charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, possession of firearms in the presence of drugs, illegal use of controlled dangerous substances in the presence of a person under 17 years of age and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

On July 11, narcotics agents received information about a residence where suspected marijuana plants were being cultivated at the residence at 1329 Saddler Street in Turkey Creek. Agents arrived at the residence and made contact with the homeowner, Chaddrick, who was advised of the reason law enforcement was on his property. According to authorities, Chaddrick permitted the agents to walk around within the property lines.

The agent located a 7 foot 9 inch tall marijuana plant with a stalk of approximately 5 ½ inches in circumference in what appeared to be a flower garden. Agents placed Chaddrick under arrest. Chaddrick then informed them he had several more marijuana plants on the property and would show deputies where they were located, officials said.

In all, 45 marijuana plants were discovered ranging from 8 inches to 8 feet tall. Chaddrick said that there were several firearms in the residence.

Upon entering the residence, agents also located marijuana seeds, three smoked hand-rolled cigarettes with a total of .76 grams of marijuana and 2 marijuana grinders, .59 grams of methamphetamine, a prescription bottle containing another .30 grams of methamphetamine, and several guns.
