Friends and coworkers reunite at McDonald's nearly 40 years later
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- After almost 40 years, some friends in Queens went back in time to their first jobs at a McDonald’s to celebrate their anniversary.
They were 14 years old when they started at a McDonald’s on Jamaica Ave. They returned to reflect on their lifelong journey and where it all began.
Detective Tanya Duhaney credits a Facebook post for the reunion. Duhaney was just 14 when she got her first job at McDonald’s. Fast forward and Duhaney now works as a detective for the NYPD.
Monica Thomas, says her first job was as a hostess at McDonald’s. Now in her lab coat, she is a healthcare executive.
Solange Kanhai was also 14 when she started. She helped clean and was a hostess for birthday parties. Today, Kanhai is employed as an administrator.
Al Brown, who worked the register is a mental health clinician.
Each one says their first job gave them the foundation to become huge successes in their fields.
It was back in 1988 when they all learned important life lessons at the golden arches on Jamaica Avenue and Parsons Boulevard. Now, looking back at years of hard work and determination, they have created a friendship that will last a lifetime.
