Top Sinclair anchor resigns after being forced to push MAGA propaganda: report
A new report from Popular Information claims that a top anchor at the Sinclair Broadcast Group resigned earlier this year because he was not comfortable being forced to air slanted stories of dubious accuracy.
Three sources told the publication that Sinclair national anchor Eugene Ramirez stepped down "over concerns about the accuracy and right-wing bias of the content he was required to present on air."
The stories in question came from the Sinclair Rapid Response Team, which is a group of four journalists based out of Sinclair's national headquarters who produce content that the company mandates its local stations air.
But as Popular Information documented, the stories in question frequently "have more in common with right-wing agitprop than journalism" and some articles even "summarize press releases or social media posts from Republican politicians or other right-wing groups."

"Through July 4, 2024, the RRT has produced 147 stories this year that portray Democrats in a negative light and just 7 stories that portray Democrats positively," writes Popular Information. "Over that same time period, the RRT has produced 57 stories that portray Republicans positively and 22 that portray Republicans negatively."
Being forced to report prepackaged stories produced by the RRT was not the only aspect of the job that Ramirez found objectionable, however.
Sources tell Popular Information that he also bristled at being forced to bring on guests from right-wing organizations such as Moms for Liberty and the Heritage Foundation, and that he was admonished by superiors when he challenged questionable claims on air.
"Sinclair's leadership ... emphasized that many of Sinclair's affiliates were not in big cities, and the content of the broadcast had to reflect the sensitivities of those viewers," the publication notes. "Representatives of progressive groups were almost never booked as guests."
