Solar Energy Budget 2024: Govt to expand list of exempted capital goods used in manufacturing of solar cells and panels

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the PM Suryaghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the Budget, installing solar panels in 1 crore households for 300 units of free electricity. The 2023-24 Budget allocates Rs 7,327 crore to solar projects. The Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana, announced in January, complements the 2014 BJP Rooftop Solar Programme aimed at 40 GW by 2022.
