Low-key smallness
Hello Friends,
Sunny skies and a chilly WNW of 9-12 kts as of 0700 along the beaches. Out at sea the MHL buoy was detecting a metre of 9-second south swell. Tide was coming into the 0855 1.4 m high and the weather call is for a high of 20. Water is 16 C and clean this morning according to Beachwatch, so not surprisingly, you’ll need the steamer.
Both the ECM and GFS models are pointing to smaller to near flat conditions by the time we get to the weekend. But they’re also both showing a return to 2-ish metre 11-12 sec south swell with light offshores from next Monday…
Weather Situation
Generally light westerly winds are forecast today due to a large high pressure system over the continent extending a ridge over the state. Northerly winds will increase during Wednesday as the high pressure system moves to the Tasman Sea ahead of a cold front and its associated trough entering the far west on Thursday. These features will cross much of the coastal waters on Friday, with west to southwesterly wind change in the wake.
