Man accused in killing of Tupac Shakur asks judge for house arrest instead of jail before trial

An ailing former Los Angeles-area gang leader is asking a Nevada judge to change her mind and release him from jail to house arrest ahead of his trial in the 1996 killing of music legend Tupac Shakur. Duane “Keffe D” Davis’ attorney asked for a hearing on Tuesday to try to show the money for Davis' $750,000 bail was legally obtained. The judge ruled in June that she wasn't convinced. Nevada law prohibits convicted killers from profiting from their crime. Davis's lawyer also argues that since Davis hasn't been convicted, it doesn’t matter if Davis and a hip-hop figure underwriting his bond plan to reap profits from selling Davis’ life story.
