19-year-old charged with illegal weapon possession in Troy
TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Troy Police reported the arrest of a 19-year-old after a pursuit with officers. Ajani Pinder, of Troy, is facing several charges.
On July 13 around 5:30 p.m., police tried to speak with Pinder after reportedly seeing him commit a violation while riding a bicycle near Third and Congress Streets. Upon officers approaching, Pinder allegedly fled the area on his bike.
Police say Pinder was caught after a brief chase and was found to illegally have a loaded modified shotgun in his cross-body pouch. He was then taken into custody and now faces the following charges:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Second-degree criminal contempt
- Obstructing governmental administration
Pinder was arraigned at the Troy City Court before being remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail. According to police, Pinder was later released after posting bail.
