A rare opportunity to work closely alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales has emerged – but you’ll need one very specific skill.

The new role of Assistant Private Secretary has been created to help plan and deliver Prince William and Kate Middleton’s public engagements in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, with a particular focus on Wales.

If you’re a fan of the royal pair this could be the job for you but applicants must speak at least conversational Welsh, with fluent written and spoken Welsh desirable.

Also, candidates should have a strong understanding of Welsh communities, affairs, government, and business, according to the job advert posted on Kensington Palace’s website.

Other skills needed are excellent communication, being organised, proactive and hands on and able to build productive relationships with a wide range of individuals and institutions.

The job advert does not say how much the role is paid.

Around 891,800 people speak Welsh, or Cymraeg as it’s known, and King Charles famously lived there in 1969 the learn the language.

Kate and William also have connection to the country. It was where William was first stationed as a RAF rescue pilot ab where the couple first lived after getting married in 2011.

Like his father, William has made efforts to learn Welsh since taking on the Prince of Wales title when his father became king.

He and Kate also paid a visit to Swansea a day after the mourning period for his grandmother Queen Elizabeth II ended.

Meanwhile, in other royal news, Princess Kate released an adorable photo of the couple’s eldest son George today to mark his 11th birthday.
