Pakistani media has reported that police raided the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party office in Islamabad and arrested Gohar Ali Khan, the party’s leader.

Dawn Pakistan newspaper reported that Gohar Ali Khan and Raouf Hassan, the party’s spokesperson, were arrested on Monday, July 22, from the PTI office in Islamabad.

According to Ali Ijaz Buttar, a lawyer for Imran Khan, between 300 and 400 police officers raided the party office and detained two senior members.

The PTI has responded to the police action, stating that “the rule of law in Pakistan has turned into a jungle law.”

The party’s initial reaction condemned the action, saying: “It is utterly disgraceful how the Islamabad police continue to mock and completely disregard the laws in this country.”

Gohar Ali Khan took over as the head of the PTI after Imran Khan was arrested and sentenced to several years in prison.

The raid on the PTI office and the arrest of its key figures represent a significant escalation in the ongoing political tension in Pakistan.

This incident underscores the growing instability and strained relations between political parties and law enforcement.

The international community is watching closely as these developments unfold, with concerns about the impact on democratic processes and the rule of law in Pakistan.
