Eagle-eyed M&S shoppers have spotted a £49 dupe of Loewe’s £850 bag of the summer
MARKS & SPENCER has been our go-to high street favourite for many years, whether it’s underwear we need, slips, swimwear, fashionable looks, or accessories.
Now, fashion fans have found a must-have bag that is selling fast, and we have to have it — their new Straw Shoulder Bag, which is giving major Loewe vibes.
Straw Shoulder Bag, £49.50, M&S
The Straw Shoulder Bag retails for £49.50 from M&S and looks very similar to the Loewe Ibiza Small Font Tote, which fetches a huge £850 and is available from Liberty, as well as other retailers, with a hefty saving of over £800.
The M&S Straw Shoulder Bag is one of the many new pieces we adore from the longstanding high street retailer.
They’ve been nailing the designer bag dupes at the moment, from another similar Loewe lookalike bag to the iconic Celine bag alternative, now this, but we are not complaining.
The M&S Straw Shoulder Bag is a perfect summer bag, or holiday holdall, thanks to the raffia fabric, as the warmer months are when this fabric is everywhere.
From the raffia fabric to the boxy rectangular design, this M&S bag made us do a double take.
The M&S bag measures 26cm in height, 32cm in width and 12cm in depth, while the Loewe bag is slightly smaller measuring 19.5cm in height, 25cm in width and 11cm in depth, so if you want a bag with extra space to carry your essentials – it’s a no brainer.
The M&S bag has a top handle you can carry or slip over your shoulder and also comes with a detachable cross-body strap so you can use it hands-free.
The M&S Straw bag is open but does have a magnetic fastening to pop the sides close shut, whereas the Loewe bag is open.
The M&S raffia design is made from raffia paper, but is lined, which provides extra security when housing our valuables, makes the bag more durable but also adds structure to the boxy design.
Plus, the affordable M&S bag has an internal pocket to house those valuables, like your cardholder or phone, which has a zip fastening to keep it in place.
The M&S version not only comes in a natural sand colour, but also chocolate brown and vibrant lime green, and you could easily shop all three for less than the Loewe design.
LOEWE x Paula’s Ibiza Small Font Tote, £850, Liberty of London
The Loewe Ibiza Tote bag is made from raffia, viscose, and a calfskin leather cross-body strap, however, it is unlined – something we would have liked to see for the price.
The Loewe bag also features the brand’s name in black on the front, but we’re not sure how durable and budge-proof that is after a week in sunny climates, manhandled by sun cream, sea and chlorine from the pool.
We would wear the M&S Straw Bag to the beach with sun cream, speakers, cover-ups, and a good book to while away the hours, or we would pair it with a linen co-ord set for daytime or night because it is super versatile.
