India needs to overhaul metrics used for measuring infrastructure utilisation: Eco Survey 2024

The Economic Survey 2023-24 has recommended creating an index to better track infrastructure utilisation rates, addressing concerns of oversupply and shortfall. Current databases inadequately assess demand and utilisation. Improved data collection, aggregation, and reporting mechanisms are essential for a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure investment and progress, said the Survey.
