Israeli jets bomb Houthi targets in Yemen in retaliatory strike

0

One day after the Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv, the Israeli military carried out a retaliatory strike against Houthi targets in the port city of Hodeidah on the Red Sea coast.

International media reported on Sunday, July 21, citing the Yemeni Ministry of Health, that at least three people were killed and 87 others injured in these attacks. The ministry emphasized that most of the injuries were severe burns.

According to Reuters, Israeli fighter jets targeted oil facilities and a power plant in the Hodeidah area. The Israeli military stated that these strikes were a response to the death of an Israeli civilian caused by a Houthi drone attack in Tel Aviv.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant noted, “The fire now blazing in Yemen can be seen across the Middle East.” He also accused the Islamic Republic of supporting the Houthis financially, calling it a “threat” to international trade.

In response, Houthi official Mohammed Abdul Salam condemned the Israeli attacks, labeling them as “barbaric aggression by Israel against Yemen.” The Houthis had initiated attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea last November in support of Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Meanwhile, the escalating violence between the Israeli military and Houthi forces reflects the broader regional tensions and the complex interplay of geopolitical interests. The situation remains volatile, with potential repercussions for international trade and stability in the Middle East.
