One person has been killed and two others injured after a bus packed with tourists crashed into a lorry in Corfu.

The crash has happened near Tzavros, in the centre of the island popular with holidaymakers.

According to Kerkyrasimera, the driver of the lorry has been seriously injured and the bus driver has been killed.

Most of the tourists have now left the bus but some of them are still stuck inside.

Video footage taken at the scene shows firefighters carefully trying to remove the tourists from the wreckage who can be heard panicking inside.

Photos from the scene also show paramedics and police officers attending the crash.

The bus was being driven from Paleokastritsa and crashed into the parked lorry, according to iefimerida.gr.

Just last week a British woman was killed in front of her family on an island in Greece.

The 47-year-old had been out for a walk in the town of Chania, Crete, when a car ploughed into their group.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and smashed into the woman and her 54-year-old sister-in-law as a result.

The victim, who suffered an injury to the head, was rushed to a hospital in the nearby town of Rethmino.

She died there a few hours later. Her sister-in-law survived the crash, but suffered abrasions to her arms and legs.

A young man also died after falling ‘head-first’ from a hotel balcony on the party island of Zante.

The 23-year-old plunged to the ground ‘head-first’ from the railings of the hotel, located off the Mediterranean coast and part of the Ionian islands.

It is understood that he was trying to get off the balcony. As soon as he stepped on the handrail, he lost his balance and fell to the ground from about 1.5 meters high.
