Meditation can be harmful, worsen mental health problems; Here's what the study says
In the past decade, scientific research on meditation's adverse effects has surged. A 2022 study of 953 regular meditators in the US found that over 10% experienced negative impacts lasting at least a month. A 2020 review of over 40 years of research highlighted anxiety, depression, and more severe issues like psychosis and dissociation as common adverse effects.
