Fortunately, there’s some easy hacks to keep them at bay according to pest control experts at Pelsis.

These natural methods won’t cause any harm to flies but will keep them away for as little as 50p.

Basil Plants

Not only do they add a great garnish to any dish your cooking in the kitchen, they’re also great to stop pests entering your home.

It’s recommended to place these plants are placed by windows or entryways.

According to the experts, the delicious herb’s strong aroma “repels” flies, making it a natural and tasty solution.

You can buy basil plants for as little as £1.50 from Sainsbury’s.

Citrus Peel

Not only are oranges and grapefruits delicious healthy snacks, they can also help keep these critters away.

Whether you’re growing lemon trees in the garden or peeling oranges for your kids, it’s suggested that you should keep the peels.

Whilst us humans love the scent, flies hate it and helps to “keep them at bay”.

You can use the peels even once they have dried until the smell is no longer present than you should replace them.

You can buy a single orange for just 30p in Sainsbury’s or a whole pack of five for £1.50 and lay them around windows and entryways.

Lavender

Lavender is a highly potent smelling plant that can keep flies out of your home and garden.

The pros explained: “Grow lavender plants outside, place a bouquet of fresh lavender in a vase, or burn lavender oil near entryways and windows.

Hornets and wasps – hate the smell of peppermint oil so spraying this liberally around your patio or balcony can help to keep them at bay.

Moths – acidic household white vinegar is effective for deterring moths. Soak some kitchen roll in vinegar and leave it in your wardrobe as a deterrent.

Flying ants – herbs and spices, such as cinnamon, mint, chilli pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves, or garlic act as deterrents.

Mosquitoes – plants, herbs and essential oil fragrances can help deter mozzies inside and out. Try eucalyptus, lavender and lemongrass.
