NATIONAL SUMMARY
Thunderstorms in the Southeast may bring localized damaging
wind gusts and flooding downpours today. Across the Florida
Peninsula, slow-moving thunderstorms can lead to flooding in
low-lying and poor drainage areas. Showers and thunderstorms
may occur in the central and northern Plains, primarily in
the afternoon. A strong area of high pressure centered over
the Rocky Mountains will continue to promote spotty
afternoon thundershowers, some of which can bring strong
winds. It will be very hot across the interior Northwest and
California. Many locations will break daily record-high
temperatures, and some places could approach all-time high
levels. Meanwhile, it will be pleasant, sunny and dry across
