Ville Platte Police Department investigating syringes found in Sonic bag
VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY)-- The Ville Platte Police Department is investigating an incident where two syringes were food in a child's bag at a local Sonic.
Michael Nelson, a resident, said he, his wife and grandchild were ordering food from the carhop at the Sonic. When they received their food, his grandchild reached into the bag where they noticed both of the needles in the bag.
Upon investigating the incident, Ville Platte Police said they learned an employee at Sonic has diabetes. The day before Nelson and his family came to Sonic, both of the syringes were left on the counter inside of the restaurant.
"If the needle would have stuck, my grandbaby could have been in a world of trouble", Nelson said.
Since the incident, both needles have been confiscated and returned to the employee. Nelson said while his grandchild was not hurt, and said Sonic needs to take responsibility for their actions.
"I think Sonic should be held accountable", Nelson said. "They should have closed the store that day. The next time it could be a fatal thing."
Nelson warns parents to be extra cautious when taking their kids to restaurants, as he said this can happen to anyone.
