Lake Charles man arrested in contractor fraud investigation

ACADIA PARISH, La. (KLFY)-- A Lake Charles man was arrested in a contractor fraud investigation, according to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities learned the victim and owner of SLPS Pole Barns and Buildings signed a contract to construct a building on the victim’s property in Acadia Parish. The contractor was paid for half of the cost of the project during the signing of the contract.
Approximately one year later, the victim filed a criminal complaint against the contractor
for violation of residential contractor fraud, according to APSO.
Brent Dugas, 48, of Lake Charles was arrested in Calcasieu Parish as a result of the investigation; he was then transferred to the Acadia Parish Jail for the charge listed above.
