Cavs vs. Pacers preview and game thread
The Cavs look for a win to close out Summer League
The Cavs look to close out Las Vegas Summer League with a victory after dropping Thursday’s game to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Who: Cleveland Cavaliers (1-3) vs. Indiana Pacers (1-3)
Where: Thomas & Mack Center - Las Vegas, NV
When: 5 p.m. EST, Saturday July 20
TV: NBA TV
What to watch for
Jaylon Tyson’s playmaking
Jaylon Tyson put together a complete game against the Lakers. He starred in a more on-ball role which saw him put up 21 points on 6-9 shooting with nine assists and 11 boards. Tyson was the best player on the court.
Tyson’s ability to play with energy while being under control stood out. This allowed him to jumpstart the Cavs offense by getting to the basket, kicking out to shooters, and pushing it off of defensive boards.
Jaylon Tyson is HOOPING right now

We’ll see if the rookie can build on the promise he showed in his final appearance in Vegas.
Luke Travers’s last shot to show some offense
Luke Travers looks very similar to the guy we saw in the 2022 Summer League. He does a lot of the little things well and has a good feel for the game, but the shooting and on-ball skills haven’t progressed to the point where you can confidently say he’s ready to be an NBA player. He’s still looking for his first three-point make of the summer and he’s only attempted five in three games.
This is his last opportunity this summer to show that his game does translate to the NBA.
Can someone else make a statement?
None of the summer invitees have made a statement. Hunter Cattoor leads players who weren’t drafted or rostered by the Cavs in points with 7.3. He’s displayed some good outside shooting, but I’m not sure it’s to make you think he has a future with the team.
The door is still open for someone to show that deserve to make the team or receive a training camp invite this fall. A strong outing in this last game would go a long way.
