Naidu sets sights on funds for irrigation project, 8 poor districts
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is pushing the Union government for budgetary support for two key projects: the development of eight backward districts and funding for the Polavaram irrigation project. While Naidu has been assured of grants for these initiatives, support for developing Amaravati as the state capital remains pending due to the need for a detailed project report. Naidu, who visited Delhi twice recently, seeks ₹12,000 crore for Polavaram, a project declared a national priority in 2014. The state government is also advocating for funds to address disparities in Anantapur, Chittoor, Prakasam, Cuddapah, Kurnool, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, and Vizianagaram districts.
