'Bankrupt' Giuliani drops thousands on first-class tickets to RNC
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani spent thousands of dollars to fly himself, his girlfriend and his assistant to the Republican National Convention first class.
The revelation has infuriated lawyers fighting on behalf of his creditors in a bankruptcy case. The ex-Trump lawyer owes $148 million to two Georgia election workers he defamed.
Lawyer Rachel Strickland told a New York bankruptcy judge the ex-Trump lawyer was trying to drain his bank account to avoid paying, Newsweek reported.
Trump had accused Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss of corruptly helping President Joe Biden win Georgia in 2020 by adding ballots to the count. He was found liable for defamation, and declared bankruptcy late last year.
Strickland, who represents Freeman and Moss, said, "Giuliani is pleading poverty to the Bankruptcy Court while flying first class with his assistant and girlfriend to the convention.
"Creditors will not sit idly by while Giuliani thumbs his nose at those he's harmed and the Court."
Strickland told Judge Sean Lane that Giuliani’s bank account had $60,000 in it last week, and half has since been spent.
