Man arrested for assaulting woman

A man is in custody after punching a 45-year-old woman at a hotel pool in Ayia Napa, according to a report from local police.

At around 5.00pm on Thursday, the woman asked the 20-year-old man to “stop disturbing female guests staying at the hotel.”

This exchange prompted the man to insult the woman and punch her face.

The woman received medical treatment for her injuries, which included a fracture to her nasal bone.

An arrest warrant was issued against the 20-year-old for assault, and Friday morning, the District Court of Famagusta issued a four-day detention order.

Famagusta police will continue their investigation.
