Alabama executes Keith Gavin despite serious constitutional questions in his case

Gavin had argued that his attorneys were ineffective during his trial and that the prosecution lacked forensic or DNA evidence against him. Defense counsel failed to present mitigating evidence that might have led jurors to vote for a life sentence without the possibility of parole instead of a death sentence.
