Fury as Dairylea shrinks size of popular Dunkers multipacks but keeps price the same

SHOPPERS are cheesed off after finding Dairylea Dunkers multipacks now have three snack pots — still at the price of four.

The lunchbox favourite is the latest victim of supermarket “shrinkflation” — paying the same for less.

Gran Tracey Brazil, 61, of Northampton, said: “My four grandkids absolutely love them but now I’ll have to fork out for an extra pack.”

Dairylea Dunkers are two-section snack packs with cheese dip in one side and something to dunk in it in the other.

The choices are Ritz crackers, nachos, bread sticks or a crispy tube.

The individual packs remain unchanged — there is just one fewer in a multipack, which costs around £2.25.

Dairylea confirmed the move will affect all four varieties and that they will now only be available in packs of three or six.

Tracey added: “When you have children who love having these snacks in their lunchboxes, it’s really difficult to explain to them about costs.

“Kids across Britain love Dunkers but for parents on the breadline they are not going to be able to afford it.

“I don’t know how they expect working people to manage this.”

Dairylea’s owner Mondelez said the smaller packs had a lower recommended retail price and the call to keep costs the same was made by shops.

The company said “significantly higher input costs across our supply chain” made their products more expensive to make.

It added: “As a result of this difficult environment, we made the decision to reformat our Dairylea Dunkers from a four-pack to a three-pack.”

Easter in at M&S

MARKS and Spencer made shoppers do a double-take by launching Easter-themed mini eggs in July.

The retailer will now be flogging the crispy-shelled chocolate treats all year round.

Announcing the move, M&S said: “We know how much our customers miss these little milk choc treats after Easter so think this will be egg-stremely exciting news for some.”

However, it has rebranded the £1.50 bags as Chicky Choccy Speckled Eggs.
