100 Club of Acadiana donates to wounded Lafayette police officer Hali Bradford

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)-- The 100 Club of Acadiana donated $1,000 to help Lafayette police officer Hali Bradford's medical expenses for her partially paralyzed foot.
Back in August of 2023, during a shooting on S. Gen. Marshall Street, Bradford was shot in the line of duty after responding to a domestic disturbance.
Ed Roy, the president of the organization, said the organization's job is to support law enforcement and firefighters.
“God forbid that a law enforcement officer or a firefighter would lose their life, but if they do, it's our objective to have enough membership and strength to go to their house the next day and pay off their mortgage,” he said.
Roy told News 10 he worked 16 years as a former officer with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office. The organization helps those in Lafayette Parish and surrounding areas in Acadiana. He said when they learned of Officer Bradford’s through the news they wanted to help and fulfill part of what their organization’s mission stands for.
“Our philosophy is you live in the community, you don't live off of the community and that's so important. Our community in Lafayette is very, very special throughout the world, actually,” he said. “It's our job as citizens who are not in government, who are not in any form of organized government to support our people who are putting their lives on the line, the firefighters and the police officers.”
"I am just so grateful for him and everyone else who has donated their contributions to me and my family. So that way that I can, you know, receive the medical treatment that I need for me to get better so that way I can return to work and live a happy, functional life,” Bradford said.
Roy said this is their first contribution to an officer since their newly formed organization.
“We have done this about 30 years ago, Alfred Lampson and his son Gary were the ones that started this club about 30, 40 years ago. Alfred passed away and the effort sort of died. With Courtney, my son, and I, bringing it back and we're going full force now,” he said. “Let's appreciate the people who go out and sacrifice their lives, their liberty, and possibly their everything for our community.”
