Discovering Saratoga: P. Kaye Designs

0

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) - While you may know some of the jockey statues inside the Saratoga Race Course, across the street on Union Avenue, another artist is getting her time in the spotlight. Since 2017, the colorful lawn jockey statues have been a staple outside the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

Paula Salmiery, a Saratoga native, started P. Kaye Designs in 2015 shortly after moving back to the area with her husband. What started as one lawn jockey in her front yard turned into people requesting one of their own, and eventually, a business.

In 2017, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame commissioned Salmiery to create 37 concrete jockey statues for their property. The number of statues is now a little more than 60, she said.

“I’m so passionate about my work, and I was like, 'Oh my God I made it!,' I made a mark on Saratoga Springs," said the Saratoga Springs High School graduate.

P. Kaye Designs also specializes in interior design, home staging and an online store featuring horse-inspired homegoods. If you're interested in learning more about their offerings, visit their website.
