Mido Introduces Ocean Star in New 39mm Case Size

0

To mark the 80th anniversary of its Ocean Star, Mido is launching a new sporty and sophisticated iteration with a diameter of 39mm, a first for this collection. Despite its smaller size, the stainless steel case of the Ocean Star 39 remains water-resistant to 200 meters.

The visual highlight of the newcomer is the relief dial with a color gradient from navy blue to black, protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. It is subtly reminiscent of the wave motions created by water in the sand of the seabed. The color scheme is repeated on the unidirectional diver’s bezel.

The large round and triangle-shaped indexes of this décor, which, like the hour and minute hands, are coated with white Superluminove, ensure perfect readability both by day and by night. A date window is located at 3 o’clock.

At the heart of the Ocean Star 39 is the Mido caliber 72 (based on ETA A31.111), which beats at 25,200 vibrations per hour. Equipped with a Nivachron anti-magnetic balance, it has a power reserve of up to 72 hours. As befits the Ocean Star line, the screw-down case back is engraved with a starfish.

Three versions complete the launch: a champagne or black dial with a steel bracelet including a diver’s extension, and an all-black model with the brand’s signature orange hour-markers and hands, combined with a black rubber strap. Pricing starts at $1,100.
