Behind the Scenes: KFOR helps film crew for the new movie "Twisters"
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The nationwide release of the movie "Twisters" is Friday, July 19, and only now can KFOR report on News 4's participation in the film.
It is a secret that KFOR has kept under wraps for more than a year!
In April 2023, after a lot of planning, a crew from "Twisters" came to KFOR to shoot scenes with members of the 4Warn Storm Team!
The "Twisters" crew spent a lot of time working with the 4Warn Storm Team Meteorologists to make certain the language in the scenes from the weather center was accurate.
There was a lot of coordination and teamwork that produced just a couple of seconds of footage in the movie, but it helped move the story along in a significant way.
Here is another secret, something that the producers thought about including in the movie.
They considered a storyline in which one of the storm chasers, a character named "Boone" had a small crush on our own Emily Sutton.
They asked Emily to sign several of her Channel 4 photographs as if she had autographed a photo for Boone.
You can see the movie for yourself when it opens at the end of the week.
That part of the movie ended up on the cutting room floor, because our team who attended the Oklahoma City Red Carpet and premier of the movie didn't see it.
We wanted to share all of this with you so you could have some fun "behind the scenes" information on some of the initial planning for the movie.
KFOR is proud to be included and we are relieved we can finally talk about it!
You can see the finalized cut of the movie when Twisters opens July 19, 2024!
