Tanner Houck Gives Take On Red Sox’s Trade Deadline Approach

The Red Sox will soon make a season-altering decision.

Boston has just 10 games remaining before the July 30 trade deadline, and all signs point to trades being made in an effort to supplement the roster. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow admitted this club is worth investing in, but he also doesn’t want to risk future wins for anything short of a championship.

How do the players feel?

“I just think that — whatever happens, happens,” Tanner Houck told Rob Bradford on the “Baseball Isn’t Boring” podcast. “We understand it. It’s a good team, it’s a fun team. We know that no matter what we look at, no matter what we read, it’s not going to change what we have to do (every) night. We have to go out there and play the game hard, and go out there and try to get a win.”

Houck, giving an answer you could expect out of many current players on the Red Sox roster, summed it up nicely. Boston is having fun, and the last thing it wants to do is ruin that fun by worrying about what comes next.

The Red Sox currently are two games clear for the final American League Wild Card spot, and could greatly improve their position with moves over the coming weeks.
