Torrey DeVitto Explains Why She Quit 'The Vampire Diaries'
Torrey DeVitto is looking back at her time on The Vampire Diaries.
If you forgot, the 40-year-old Chicago Med actress appeared on seasons three and four of The CW series as Dr. Meredith Fell. She appeared on the show alongside her then-husband Paul Wesley, who played Stefan Salvatore.
In a new interview, Torrey explained why she didn’t return to the show after appearing on only a handful of episodes.

Torrey and Paul started dating in 2007 and married in 2011. They divorced in 2013 after less than two years of marriage.
“I’m not that kind of person that’s like, ‘Well, this is business, I can stay,’” Torrey continued. “It’s like, ‘No. I don’t want to come back. I’m good, thank you.’”
Despite no longer having to work with Paul, Torrey recalled going through a “really dark time” due to intense scrutiny from The Vampire Diaries‘ fanbase.
“That did garner a bit of attention in a way that I don’t think I was prepared for,” Torrey said. “And then it was hard too because for a couple years, anybody that I would date afterwards, people would just [say], ‘He’s so disgusting. He’ll never be Paul. How could you do this?’”
After a while, the fans settled down and Torrey was able to move on.
The Vampire Diaries ran for eight seasons from 2009 to 2017.
If you missed it, Torrey announced in May that she and fiancé Jared LaPine are expecting their first child together!
